My personal wellness journey

My belief in natural medicine began over 40 years ago, when my son was diagnosed with severe asthma and was successfully treated using naturopathy and herbal medicine.

I was always someone who was interested and informed about good health. I was doing “all the right things”. I ate good fresh food. I exercised four to five times a week. Yet, I always felt extremely tired or overly wired which was impacting my daily energy levels and impacting my sleep. I was also constantly having to watch my weight despite putting in the effort with my exercise regime and diet.

In my early 40’s, whilst juggling a busy career and a young family, I received a troubling diagnosis which kickstarted my own journey of healing my body without medication.

My health report was not great:

·       under-active thyroid

·       adrenal fatigue

·       liver sluggish

·       low iron

·       high cholesterol

·       15 kgs over healthy weight

I always love to research so I learnt about the importance of understanding my own genetic disposition starting with understanding my parent’s health issues (hence the things you are genetically disposed to).

Both my parents and grandparents had history of issues with thyroid conditions, high blood pressure and kidney dysfunction and in the backdrop of these physical symptoms were mental struggles with anxiety and depression.

I was fortunate in my journey to obtain the support and guidance of a wonderful natural metabolic health practitioner, who helped me to better understand my own health, and guide me to make the necessary changes transforming the constantly feeling of being sluggish and anxious from an under active thyroid. I also lost the weight I wanted to shift and managed to keep it off.

My approach with my clients is to firstly to educate and help you understand your genetic health tendencies, which is the key to understanding the foundations of how to manage your health. Secondly, understanding how your body and metabolism are working. What is great for another person may be the right approach for you.

The benefits for me have truly been life changing, and I am often asked, ‘What have you been doing? I want what you have!’

Prevention is always better than cure. There is no magical cure, but I endeavour to give clients practical and workable solutions for a path to improve your health and well-being.
